LABORATORY TRAININGS
Analysis of the efficiency and specificity in the root-microbe symbioses
1. Visits to two field sites in the St.-Petersburg area (prepared in advance) for collecting the plants (goats ‘ rue and soybeans) for analysis of the symbiotic activity.
2. Measuring nitrogenase activity (acetylene reduction assay; gas chromatography) and N accumulation (Kijltek Auto system) as well as nodulation scores and biomass yields.
3. Demonstration of the contrast phenotypes of symbiotic mutants (pea) followed by microscopy (as it was done at Kaunas in 2005 maybe plus analysis of AM mycorrhization).
4. Evaluation of symbiotic specificity using the models of Nod factors activities on different pea genotypes.
